Life coaching
Life coaching for people standing at a crossroads
Something changed, or something ended, and the path you were on no longer fits. Coaching is where you work out what you want next and then actually go get it.

Does any of this sound like you?
- You retired, and the calendar that used to run your life is empty.
- The last kid moved out and the house is quiet in a way you were not ready for.
- Someone died, and you are still here, and you have no idea what your life is supposed to look like now.
- You got everything you spent thirty years working toward and felt almost nothing when you got there.
- You keep saying you want something to change and then finding yourself in the same week again.
You are not in crisis. You are not broken. You are just at a point where the old answers stopped working, and nobody hands you new ones. But here is the good news. You already have the answers, they lie within you.

How is coaching different from therapy?
Therapy tends to look at your past and your present. Coaching looks forward at where you want to go. It is a commitment from you to your own change and a commitment from me to hold you accountable for the steps between our sessions.
The other difference is what I do in the room. I do not give advice. Highly trained coaches guide you to your own inner knowledge so you uncover your own truths, because you are the only person who knows what is in your best interest. My job is to dissolve the obstacles standing between you and the life you want.

Just bring yourself
Start with a free 30-minute call
Thirty minutes, no cost, no obligation, and no pitch.
We spend the time doing actual coaching. I will take you through a couple of the exercises I use with clients, so you get a real sense of what this work feels like from the inside rather than a description of it. You leave with something either way.
Most people know by the end of the call whether they want to keep going.
Then eight weeks, if it's a fit
The coaching itself runs over eight weeks. We meet on a set schedule and you leave every session with actions: small, doable, measurable, and specific enough that you know whether you did them.
That last part is where most change falls apart, and it is where I am most useful. The work between the sessions is the work. I will ask you about it and hold you accountable.

Laura was so good at eliciting a deeper response from me. The activities that were the most insightful for me were also the ones that I didn't understand at first. Each week, she guided me without giving me answers. She helped me to create a vision and actionable micro steps that built on each other to help me solidify the change that I want to make and can commit to successfully. I would highly recommend her.

The framework
Change = Vision + Choice + Action
That equation is Nancy Levin's, and it is the spine of everything I do. I was trained by Nancy Levin through the Levin Life Coach Academy over two years, and am certified to coach in four of her frameworks: Reinvention, Worthy, Boundaries, and group coaching.
This work is rooted in shadow work, which goes back to Carl Jung and the study of unconscious belief.
Reinvention is the core of it and covers eight dimensions: vision, calibration, beliefs, self-worth, boundaries, choice, self-confidence, and visibility.
The idea underneath all of it is this. Most of us formed conclusions about ourselves when we were children, as a way of making sense of adult situations at a child's level. Those conclusions are still running. They tell you what you can and cannot do, and they are magnetic: you keep unconsciously collecting evidence that they were right. This is what keeps you stuck. Through coaching you bring the unconscious to the conscious, you separate fact from fiction, and you choose what to put in their place.

Why I do this
I went through these frameworks as a client before I ever trained in it. I was at a crossroads after my husband died, and I knew I would stay stuck if I did not keep learning about myself.
What I found were three beliefs I had been carrying since childhood: that I was broken, that I was a disappointment, and that I was helpless. I could see where each one came from and how it had kept me safe once. I could also see that none of them were true. Once I connected the dots I replaced the old, outdated beliefs with new, empowering ones.
I did not sign on with Nancy to become a coach. I signed on to learn about me. My own transformation is why I became one.
Reinvention coaching was an incredible experience. Both timely and thought provoking. Highly recommended for anyone looking to change their mindset and create actionable goals to transform their lives.
Questions people ask
Highly trained coaches guide clients to tap into their own inner knowledge, uncover personal truths, and discover their own answers. We help bring the unconscious into the conscious. Only you know what is in your best interest. As coaches we do not offer advice. We focus on dissolving the obstacles and blocks that keep you from the life you want.
Therapy tends to be more past and present focused. Coaching is more focused on achieving future goals. Coaching is a commitment from you to your own transformation, and a commitment from me to hold you accountable.
It is focused on guiding you to the change and the outcome you want in your life. It is built around moving you from where you are now to where you want to be, across eight dimensions: vision, calibration, beliefs, self-worth, boundaries, choice, self-confidence, and visibility.
Shadow beliefs are stories we create, most often in childhood, to understand situations and events in our lives. They are conclusions we formed about ourselves. They are magnetic, meaning that as adults we keep drawing in evidence, often unconsciously, to prove them correct. Limiting shadow beliefs have tremendous influence. They become the lens we look through when we see ourselves.
If beliefs are the cause, underlying commitments are the effect. They are what keep you from doing what you want or becoming who you want to be. Buried in the unconscious, they shape the choices you make and the ones you do not.
Boundaries are what you will and will not do. If a boundary gets crossed, it is you doing the crossing, not someone else.
We do real coaching exercises rather than talk about coaching. There is no cost and no obligation.
Yes, every day. I experienced the coaching paradigms first-hand as part of my training, I have watched my own transformation, and I keep doing the work.
